An E-Learning Course on Risk Management of Food-borne Pathogens will be jointly implemented by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) and the Development Academy of the Philippines on June 24-27, 2014 at the Development Academy of the Philippines, San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
The course aims to 1) introduce food safety risks and vulnerabilities in food supply chain, especially due to food-borne pathogens, and approaches to contain them; and 2) enhance participants’ understanding of the concepts and application of food safety risk management in food supply chain.
This course is for food scientists, food microbiologists, academics, food safety managers, leaders of food safety teams, food preservation and processing specialists, officials of public health and government agencies; among others, those involved in food safety management.
As an e-learning course, this is an enriching learning opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with other participants from Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Mongolia and Vietnam via video conferencing facility. International resource speakers will deliver presentations from their home countries. These presentations will be interactive, involving exercices and case studies while allowing participants to ask questions. Each country group will be moderated by a local coordinator. On the last day, a written examination will be conducted to test the participants’ learning from the course. Performance in the examination will be one of the criteria for selection of the participants for subsequent follow-up training course.
