MFCA focuses on tracing waste, emissions, and non-products and can help boost an organization’s economic and environmental performance. It is one of the major tools of environmental management accounting (EMA). ISO 14051, on the other hand, is a standard developed to complement the ISO 14000 family of environmental management system standards, including life cycle assessment (ISO 14040, ISO 14044) and environmental performance evaluation (ISO 14031).
The Asian Productivity Organization (APO), in cooperation with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), is implementing a self-learning e-course starting June 1 up to October 31, 2016 (5 months), with the objective of providing understanding of basic concept and principles of material flow cost accounting (MFCA) and enhanced understanding of ISO 14051.
